Kyle S. Deese
My family and I relocated to Lubbock in 2017, and we are extremely happy to be back in the Hub City. I grew up in McKinney, Texas and spent most of my life in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I attended Texas Tech University and graduated cum laude in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I subsequently received my Juris Doctor from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (now “Texas A&M University School of Law”).
While in law school, I was inducted into the Elliott Inn Chapter of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society. Law students must be in the top third of their law school class at the time of selection to be invited to join the Elliott Inn Chapter of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society.
Following law school, I obtained my LL.M. in Taxation from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. After starting my law practice in 2011, I realized early on that I did not want to spend the rest of my legal career engaged in tax planning or solving complicated tax problems for the wealthy. At this time, I also discovered that expunging arrest records and assisting with inaccurate background checks was rewarding work. I enjoyed fighting for consumers.
In 2013, while reading a profile piece on a popular legal blog, I learned about a highly-regarded consumer protection attorney who sues abusive debt collectors under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). I was immediately fascinated by this trailblazer’s consumer law practice. In 2014, I found my calling as a Texas consumer protection attorney after attending Pete Barry’s FDCPA Boot Camp.
I have attended the National Consumer Law Center’s Fair Debt Collection Practices Conference multiple times. I am also a past attendee at the National Association of Consumer Advocates’ Auto Fraud Conference and have attended the annual Fair Credit Reporting Act Conference multiple times.
When I am not practicing law, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing tennis, road biking, traveling, listening to live Texas/Red Dirt music, and watching almost any Texas Tech sporting event.
I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you about your legal issue. You can schedule a time for a free case evaluation by calling my receptionists at 806.475.0150.
